Principal's Message

CME Families,

Once again it’s hard to believe that I am writing the final newsletter article for another school year. Time really does pass quickly when you are enjoying every moment of your day with exceptional students, parents and staff. Even though the calendar is quickly counting down to summer, we have many activities to complete and numerous accomplishments to celebrate during the final few weeks of school.  From Field Days, the final SOAR Assembly and 4th Grade Musical, to Promotion Ceremonies and so much more, we look forward to sharing these events as a CME Family as we create memories that we will cherish for years to come.

4th Grade Musical

Come one and all, or you might have to walk the plank, to our 4th grade musical performance of “Pirates.” Our 4th graders have been working very hard to put on a show that you will not soon forget this Wednesday, May 18th at 6:30 pm.  So get your “sea legs” ready and join us for a night of exceptional talent, music, and lots of laughter.

CME Cares

The only thing bigger than CME family pride is the size of our hearts!  Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, our CME family was able to raise $8,913 for chromebooks to support Ukrainian refugees in Romania. Your great kindness is too big to be contained on this mountain and now will overflow to the other side of the world. THANK YOU!

Summer Learning

While we do believe it is important to keep key academic skills sharp over the summer months, it is equally important to take time to relax and create lasting memories with family and friends. Let your child have fun learning new things by helping you plant a garden, going on a hike, playing a family game, writing a journal, building a new item together, or any other numerous fun summer activities.  If you are looking for ideas to make reading a little more engaging during the summer months the Pikes Peak Library has an exceptional program at https://ppld.org/summerkids.

Celebrating Mrs. Baertlein

As Mrs. Karen Baertlein begins her next exciting life chapter when she retires from teaching at the end of this school year, please help us send her out with style. We will be honoring Mrs. Baertlein next Monday the 23rd with an Open House from 3:00 pm- 4:15 pm. While we will all miss Mrs. Baertlein greatly, we wish her nothing but the very best in the days and years to come! Happy Retirement, Mrs. Baertlein!

Goodbye and Hello!

This year we will bid a fond farewell to many of our CME family members as they begin new steps in their personal and professional lives.  Mrs. Diana Sylvander will be making another military move to Germany.  Ms. Kristin Lee will be welcoming and spending time with her soon to arrive baby boy.  Mrs. Kim Maire will be pursuing another exciting career opportunity. Mrs. Hope Ellerbusch will be taking a yearlong leave of absence to spend some precious time with family and friends. Ms. Karen Scott will be celebrating her retirement on the warm beaches of Florida.  While we wish all these staff members the very best, we are also very excited to welcome two new members to our team. Ms. Courtney Laux will be our new Special Education Teacher. Ms. Laux comes from Widefield School District with a wealth of knowledge and a passion for education and kids. Mr. Jonathan Gonzales will be the newest member of our 3rd grade team. He is coming from the Vanguard School where he has taught 3rd grade for the past four years. His great enthusiasm and dedication to teaching will be a great addition to our school. Finally, Mrs. Whitney Green will be our new 4th grade teacher. She has taught various grade levels and will enrich our school culture with her experience, knowledge, and passion for education.

Thank You!

As I write my final newsletter article, my heart is filled with much gratefulness and appreciation for the past 13 years at CME. Words cannot express how much each of you and your children have enriched my life and have made me a better person and educator. I will cherish the memories of my time here on the mountain and forever carry a piece of my CME family in my heart. Hope to see all of you one more time with our many events over the next few weeks.  The good news is that I am still in the district, just a little further down the road. I promise to visit often.

On behalf of the entire CME staff, we wish you a fun and relaxing summer filled with picnics, hikes, family vacations, staying up late and sleeping in, many ice cream cones, and some special moments with family and friends.

Happy Summer and Best Wishes CME!

Mr. Paugh
