Principal's Message

CME Family,

The amazing colors of gold, orange, and red engulfing the mountainside and the appearing of pumpkins and scarecrows on front porches remind us that we are in full swing into the fall season and the month of October. As October brings many exciting events to our homes and neighborhoods, CME too is a buzz with numerous activities.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

On October 29th and 30th, our school calendar provides us with one of our greatest opportunities, even if virtually, for communication between home and school during CME’s Parent/Teacher Conferences.  We are utilizing Sign Up Genius for scheduling conferences that will allow many of you an opportunity to choose the time for your Parent\Teacher Conference that best fits into your schedule. An email was sent home as well as a letter last Thursday giving you details regarding our scheduling process and how you can schedule your child’s conference.  If you have any questions about our scheduling process, how you will access your child’s conference virtually  or any other items pertaining to conferences, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the front office.

Please remember that October 29th and 30th are days set aside by the district for conferences and therefore provide the greatest flexibility to accommodate your scheduling needs. If you’re unable to attend one of these days, times may be limited for meeting with your child’s teacher. We are looking forward to seeing all of you virtually at Parent/Teacher Conferences in just a few short weeks.

Halloween Fun

If there is one thing CME does well it is celebrating and having fun. This year’s Halloween Day, while different, will be no exception! Everyone needs to brush up on their Harry Potter characters as your child may see some of them roaming the hallways of CME to add a little magic to our day. Our hallways may even undergo a magical transformation so they resemble Harry Potter’s famous alma mater, Hogwarts. Teachers and parents are working together to make October the 28th a very special Halloween celebration. On this date, your child may wear their Halloween costume to school. We ask that no Halloween masks be worn as they can not replace the required or strongly encouraged face covers that students wear every day to school. In order to keep this event fun and safe for all our CME Eagles, please save those gruesome or scary costumes, facsimiles of weapons (i.e. swords, knives, etc.) for Halloween night. Parents, thank you for providing snacks, helping with decorations and so much more to make this event “Spooktacular” for our Eagles.

Cooler Weather Will Be Coming

As we all know our weather is anything but predictable and colder weather is on its way. Please make sure to check Colorado’s ever-changing forecast often to ensure that your child has just the right attire for the day.  At CME, we try to go outside as much as possible for recess and P.E classes to ensure that students get fresh air and exercise. We will go outside when the temperature is above 20 degrees and, even at times when it is snowing. So please remind your child to layer up and be ready to enjoy our beautiful, yet sometimes cold, Colorado weather.

Thank You

Parents, we can’t thank you enough for all your support during these first few months of school. Operating under “new normal,” while having its benefits, has presented a few challenges and changes to long held practices/events at CME. Yet, in every aspect you have risen to the occasion and provide encouragement and support to your child, to their teacher and to our entire school community. We are truly blessed to have parents who send us their very best every day and who give their very best to make our CME community a very special place to grow and learn. Thank you!

Have an Outstanding October,

Mr. Paugh
